Our Rules of Engagement
The only requirement we have before you participate is that you agree to abide by our Rules of Engagement.
- Confidentiality is essential. By joining our gatherings you agree to keep everything you hear as strictly private and not to be disclosed outside of this herd.
- Hold your ego. Pretend that you are not hot shit. Do not give advice. We repeat…DO NOT GIVE ADVICE. Practice humility by giving more than you take (drop the one-upmanship, humble bragging, virtue signaling and the need to always know best).
- Always arrive 5 minutes before we start. This allows the moderator to focus on the herd and not be distracted with individuals entering at the last minute.
- Black Sheep have two ears and one mouth. Speak less and listen more.
- Learn to share a good story from your first hand experience (instead of giving advice!).
- Commit to being fully engaged. That means no multitasking for the brief time we are together.
- Online etiquette makes for a better experience. Good lighting, microphones muted when not talking, use the “raised hand”, wait to be called upon & quiet backgrounds. And of course cameras on - “no lurking” allowed.
- Don’t pitch or market to the group during the gathering. While we encourage mutual business & social connections, save the networking for after the gathering.
- Approach everything with positive intent. That means avoiding judgment and focusing on what you can contribute to everyone’s experience. It also means no criticism.
- Don’t use automated recording software (firefly, soarscribe etc). Keeping the confidentiality means we cannot record the Gatherings.
Only proceed if you are willing to agree 100% with our Rules Of Engagement.
